Global Recycling Day

Global Recycling Day

On 18 March 2018, people around the world will come together for the first ever Global Recycling Day. At Re-Tek, every day is a reuse and recycling day, so it is great to see the importance of the issue being recognised and addressed worldwide.

Global Recycling Day aims to change the mind-set of governments, businesses, communities and individuals around the world, to see recyclables as “resource – not waste.” We all know the six major natural resources on the planet: water, air, coal, oil, natural gas and minerals. Now, recyclables have joined them, as the world’s Seventh Resource.

Without reuse and recycling, all our used and discarded IT equipment, fridges, plastic bottles, packing boxes, cars, cell phones and paper cups will contribute to the growing waste mountains, to be incinerated or go to landfill – never to be used again. Without reuse and recycling, we have no option but to continue stripping the earth of her finite natural resources.

Each year too many phones, computers & electronics are wasted to landfill. This e-waste is a rich resource of precious metals and rare earth elements which we must reuse and recycle!

Please consider donating your redundant, but working electrical equipment, to your local charity shop and someone else can benefit from the use of your pre-loved equipment.

Be part of the solution, not the problem. Remember the 3 R’s – Reduce – Reuse – Recycle
