Re-Tek have engaged with many public-sector organisations to promote reuse activities by providing employee amnesties and reuse containers in Household Waste Recycling Centres.

Scottish Government

Re-Tek work with Scottish Government departments and agencies providing asset management services for their internal ICT at their main site, Saughton House. For another government agency, focused on resource management, we provide similar services, carrying out the above and achieving high levels of re-use, in excess of 80% of equipment collected. Re-Tek help the Scottish Government reduce their environmental impact by keeping perfectly good ICT in circulation for as long as possible.

Supported Businesses & the Public Sector

In 2018 we were successful in a funding application to increase the types of items that could be donated to Falkirk Council’s reuse hub to include small electrical items e.g. microwaves, toasters, kettles, etc. These items are PAT tested and re-directed back to vulnerable members of the community, through our partner LAMH Recycling. We are proud of our current reuse rate which currently stands at 80% and are proud to support our local communities.

Working with Local Authorities

Re-Tek have engaged with many local authorities to identify and develop innovative projects which take forward objectives in terms of education, awareness-raising, social inclusion and community benefit. With Aberdeenshire and Falkirk Council we have set up Scotland’s first reuse hubs for consumer ICT equipment and have now successfully delivered a range of short and long-term projects with Glasgow City, Aberdeen City, Dumfries & Galloway, Perth and Kinross and East Ayrshire Councils (involving waste management, social work and education teams). With Aberdeen City Council the project delivered won a Green Apple award and the City’s Ecocity award for environmental best practice and waste reduction.

We have now successfully delivered a wide range of innovative, value-added services in partnership with our public-sector clients.
