legislative compliance on
recycling of redundant it
WEEE Directive 2003
The WEEE Directive from the EC came into law in the UK in January 2007. It dictates how redundant IT, waste electrical and electronic equipment must be handled at the end of its life and sets recycling targets for this equipment.
These WEEE Regulations introduce new responsibilities for businesses and other non-household users of electrical and electronic equipment who now need to ensure that all separately collected WEEE is treated and recycled.
Re-tek are conscientious about these requirements and take all measures to comply with them in their handling of redundant IT material.
The Environmental Protection Act 1990
The Environmental Protection Act means organisations have a duty of care to ensure that wastes are consigned to registered carriers and properly stored and disposed of at licensed facilities. Companies, and their employees, who deal with environmental waste can be held liable if they operate in contradiction of these laws.
