Confidential information needs to remain just that

Information security is a key concern for most organisations today. Information must be protected throughout procurement, operation and disposal of IT equipment. Re-Tek is focussed on the re-use and re-cycling of IT equipment and it is imperative that these processes do not;

• identify the source organisation where the equipment originated, either through physical markings such as labels and asset tags, or software configuration like boot-up screens
• expose an organisations’ sensitive information that may exist on memory cards, hard drives, CDs, tapes and floppy disks.

We realise we are a key part of the information assurance lifecycle and are committed to safeguarding our customers’  identity and confidential information, helping them meet corporate, legal and regulatory requirements.

We follow recognised industry standards

As part of our corporate Data Assurance and Risk Management Strategy, we operate an information security management system based on the principles of ISO/IEC27001. We monitor this to ensure we adequately protect our customers’ confidential information through our handling, processing and disposal operations.  Our security processes start from the moment we receive equipment and encompass our physical, electronic procedural and personnel security. We run regular security awareness campaigns for all of our employees to ensure their commitment to these principles.

We safely and verifiably erase confidential information

During equipment processing, Re-Tek carefully remove of all asset tags, labels and banners from equipment to remove traces of previous use, purpose and ownership. Information on reusable storage devices such as hard disks is erased using an auditable, verifiable, industry-accepted toolset based on the media sanitisation principles set out in US DOD 5220.22-M and the UK HMG Infosec Standard 5, Enhanced Standard.  Every single bit of information is deleted from the device, leaving it in an assured state ready for re-use.

We offer certified destruction of Storage Devices

For some organisations, destruction of data storage devices is the only approach that gives suitable assurance of confidentiality.  Re-Tek offer certified destruction as a chargeable service as an alternative to data erasure. This is endorsed by a certificate and supported with images of the process.

We offer a customisable Service for your individual needs

Not all information is equal. Re-Tek understands that individual corporate security policies may mandate specific requirements for data disposal.  We are happy to discuss specific requirements on a case-by-case basis. We also welcome you on site to witness our erasure and handling processes.
